Bexleyheath Bus Garage Angling clubs first match of the year took place at
Newlands Hall Park Lake 18/04/2012 . Only eight anglers braved the pouring
rain and high winds . The fishing was poor but everyone caught some fish and
eventual winner was Gary Boswell who was the only angler to bag double
figures for the day with 21lb 2oz mainly carp caught on celticbaits g-nut .
Big thanks goes out to Brian of Celticbait who supplied Gary with a couple
of kilos of chopped baits in various flavours ! Gary with his first ever
match win followed up with a third place at Hartleylands Nicks Lake . this
time the weather had much improved and the winning weight was over 80lbs  .
Gary still adapting to match fishing managed 70lb 6oz again mainly carp .
Next match is at Claygate Lakes in Kent Lake Eva .

I arrived at the estate about mid day. Back in burnt oak swim. I topped up the baited areas and sat and watched the water. There were fish over two of the baited areas but on top just cruising. As i watched more and more fish appeared in front of me on top. Got a bit of bread out on a hook and line. They just were'nt having it but i kept at it for a while. Anyway got rods out with my rig on and crustation 14mm boilie on two and 14mm G-Nut on the other.

Had dinner, chilled out with a beer and my book. About 9.30pm my left hand rod was off and as i lifted into the fish i knew it was decent. It felt heavy straight away. It kited off to the right and i steered it to my direction. Eventually it came in. Under the rod tip it kicked off but persuaded into the net.
Not the prettiest of mirrors, had a nasty scar on its under belly but still a decent fish. At 24lb 8oz i was a happy man. The fish was happy coz she loves the celticbaits so much!!! Photos done and fish safely returned i put the rod back out.
Turned in about midnight at 2.35am the middle rod was off and i lifted into a frantic fish running like a steam train. Knew it wasnt massive, but 'size does'nt matter'. It came in easy and happily i guess. Into the net a mid double prestine common. After weighing it and keeping it wet i went for photos but camera for some reason would'nt work. Returned fish. Rod back out and back into bed. I looked at the camera dont know what i did but got it working, which was good because at 3.20am my left hand rod off again. Blurry eyed i picked up rod into a little common of 10lb 3oz came into my net.
Nothing more that session but what a result.

I had two nights ahead of me on the bank of the estate pond. Though not many big carp in there i love this little untouched lake. There are carp to 30lb but none of that matters.
I had now built up this swim with a steady baiting campaign going on, and these carp are loving celticbaits.
Id already had the spots clipped up so baited rig with tiny bag and rods were out by early evening.
The night was quiet,but saw fish in the areas so rebaited and put back out. The first fish was off by about 10a.m the fish played well and tired easy enough. Into the net first time of asking. A chunky common looked heavier but went 15lb 9oz. Came on crustation boilie.
The day was quiet after that for most of it until about 6pm when another one toner hit into what was a small carp of 11lb exactly again to crustation. Rod back out and the third rod was off this time the fish went nutty it swam at me faster than i can wind in. Then it just swam on its back then jumped it was frantic especially for such a small carp. Slightly bigger at 11lb 11oz. This one came on G-Nut again same rig type same bag set up. Ive devised a rig that i think is unique. I love it and works well here.
The second night again was a silent night. Was just thinking of starting to pack up when again one of the rods was off. Again it was a one toner lifted into the rod and it felt like a nice fish. No one to do the photos, dont like the way self takes are turning out at moment so i took a quick pic in the net. Weighed in at 12lb.
That was a strange session in as much as nothing during darkness but still enjoyable
Thanks to celticbaits for producing such a lovely bait. Cant wait to be out again. Next session is going to be a one nighter.

Just back from another great week down at Cleveley Bridge Fisheries as per usual, mixed weather again, but had a few on the bank, 8 in all, albeit to low doubles but again spotted some nice fish. Celtic seems to be doing well on there at moment and as weather warms up will be trying G-Nut on there. Looking forward to next trip already just wish it would warm up a little soon, got back tonight to see yet more snow on the hills and snow showers here now :o(, big thanks to all at cleveley for a magic week and wetrooms will be ready very soon now, if Dave gets his finger out and stains the doors!!!!

It was time to visit the estate pond again. Last time out id been beaten up by two carp. Time to get even...

Armed with the faithful G-Nuts dumbells. Found myself in burnt oak swim after seeing a couple of fish showing not 20 yards out. With the weather being so dreadful i actually got bivvy set up first. A little casting round i found a clear spot amongst deep silt. Baited up i clipped two rods to that spot. I then flicked the two rods with single dumbell to that spot. The third rod i pva bagged chops and whole baits into reeds on my right. A couple of hours in and one of the rods on the baited spot let out a couple of bleeps then a gentle run. A bream of a few pound was the culprit. Rod back on the spot and more bait on top.
About an hour later the other rod to the baited area was off with a more promising take, but again it turned out to be another snotty.
Well turned in about ten expecting to get wet in the night. The wind had picked up and blowing n.e into my back and it was raining like a monsoon. At one point i had a mini river running past my bivvy.
Couldnt sleep well with that storm out there then at 4.25a.m my left hand rod was off one toning and i was on it and into a decent fish. Played it in to the bank and after some gentle persuation into the net it went. Unhooked it in the net and it looked a nice fish. Net secured safely popped next door to wake my mate up to do the honours with the camera. Lifting the fish up and onto the mat it looked stunning. Didnt care what it weighed it didnt matter i loved the look of it. Photos done we did weigh it it went 16lb 3oz returned it to its wet and windy home.
Had a brew with cameraman and a chat and didnt really go back to sleep.
Saturday weather wise was truly aweful. I baited up a few spots knowing fish feed there. I got all three rods rebaited and back out. Two to the same spot and the third left of those two at 25yards.
Nothing happened for most of the day but then the third rod was off and knew it was a bream before i picked up rod. Rod back out small bag of chops with it.
Rest of the day was uneventful apart from weather worstening and more stormy.
Uneventful night fishwise i had a branch got through the back of my bivvy ripping a panel. I sort of patched up best i could, but obviously bivvy ruined. Oh well these things happen.....
Packing up around 7.30 one of the baited rods went off letting out a one toner. Hit into an angry little scapper. As soon as it saw the net it lunged and took off in protest of being caught. Eventually it saw it from my point of view and slid over the net cord.
A pretty little common of 10lb. A result. Thankyou celticbait.com for a lovely couple of fish.
Packing up was a messy affair least of all because my bivvy was to be binned after four faithful years. It had served me well.
Cant wait to get back onto the bank, hopefully with new bivvy but definately with celticbaits G-Nuts and giving crustatuon a go too.
